Women are always in transition. Whether we're in the workforce climbing the corporate ladder or leaving it to care for our children, it is no secret that presentation is everything.

At OnYou Fashion Consignments, we can help you create a wardrobe with styles to fit everything in your life, just by following some basic guidelines.

For the office:

Unless you have a specific uniform, many large companies are doing away with everyday casual attire. We believe that when you look good, you feel better and probably get more done! But you can be professional and comfortable, too. And you don't have to break the bank to get there.

Choose:
· Start with a basic/neutral color scheme and buy pieces that work together (black, tan and white; blue, pale yellow and white; brown, green and cream; etc.).
· Mix-and-match with suit separates (pant suits, skirt suits, dress suits) in neutral colors like black, tan, gray or brown made from materials you can wear year around (in Florida, that's blended wool, gabardine, polyester).
· Add shirts, skirts, dresses and pants in colors that coordinate with your suit separates. Here you can go bold with color, pattern and cut to suit your individuality (flirty skirts, sheer and colorful shirts, daring dresses).
· Buy work shoes for comfort first, quality second, and then style. Start with one pair to match each suit (black, blue, brown, tan, beige). Low heel, closed toe pumps or mules (if your office allows) are versatile enough for most outfits and as your budget permits, you can add more colorful choices to match your wardrobe.
· Don't forget to accessorize with handbags, jewelry, scarves and belts!

Lose:
· Short shorts or skirts. Even in the most casual offices, it's best to keep your shorts at home. Wear cropped or Capri-style pants instead.
· Open toe sandals you wear to the beach or furry boots you wear to the slopes.
· Any tight fitting, too short/low cut or strapless shirt where your bra strap - or bra bulge! -is noticeable. Even under a suit jacket, it's not appropriate. (Same for mini skirts. Ever heard of VPL? Visible Panty Lines?).
· T-shirts with writing or advertisements (unless it's advertising your business).
· Sweatpants, stretch pants or yoga pants meant for the gym.

Casual Fridays

Lucky you, Friday is "wear your jogging suit to work" day…not really! Unless you are the boss, always dress for the position you want, even on casual Fridays. You can be casual and professional at the same time.

Choose:
· Easy to wear khaki or twill trousers, cropped or Capri-style pants (if allowed) in solid colors or timeless patterns (houndstooth or window pane plaid, stripes or pin dots) for maximum mileage.
· Jean or patterned just-above-the-knee skirts and slim or ruffled skirts.
· Sheath or shirt dresses.
· Collared and button down shirts, cardigan twin sets and fitted T-shirts.
· Top with a fitted blazer, leather or jean jacket, or oversized shirt.

Lose:
· Saturday night dance party dresses, shirts or skirts.
· Flip flop sandals, your yard-work tennis shoes or thick-soled boots.
· Frayed or overly stressed denim.
· Jogging suits (they are so cute, but not for work!) or velour two pieces.

Stay at Home

Whether you're a stay-at-home-mom or you don't work (lucky you!), wearing your jammies all day gets really old, really fast. Look and feel better when you're home or out and about without a lot of fuss.

Choose:
· Comfortable, fitted jogging suits.
· Walking shorts (knee length) or capri pants.
· Fitted T-shirts topped with khaki or jean jackets.
· Dresses or skirts with flats.
· White button/collar shirt.
· Yoga pants with zipper sweatshirt or T-shirt.
· Khaki pants and jeans with anything!

Lose:
· Your husband's Aerosmith T-shirt.
· Bleach spotted, too-short shorts or pants.
· Stretch pants.

After 5/Special Occasion

There is no better time to buy consignment than when you're dressing for a wedding, a show or a night on the town. Special occasion items are worn very few times and at a fraction of retail, you can afford to go all out. But there's more to it than the little black dress.

Choose:
· Separates. Get a satin or velvet camisole or tank top that you can wear with a blazer for work; pair it with a colorful or slinky skirt for your special occasion.
· Try a vintage pantsuit on for size. You'll be amazed how comfortable and flattering they are.
· The little black dress but in red, blue or green - appropriate for most anything.
· Glamorous accessories like rhinestone earrings, a sheer shawl, scarf or hat.

Lose:
· Plain leather pumps; instead, try a strappy, shiny or more colorful alternative.
· Ditto for handbags.
