Get cash for your top quality, stylish
misfit clothing and accessories with OnYou Fashion Consignments. We'll
merchandise your items and pay you half of the sales price
a little
mad money to pad your purse.
But first, what do we mean by misfit?
The way too high heels you bought on vacation
the skirt you wanted
to hem, but didn't
the maternity clothes you don't need anymore...business
clothes you won't wear staying home with the kids
casual-wear you
have to give up for your new promotion
shoes you had no reason
to buy (nothing matches them!)
scarves that take up way too much
room in your drawer
handbags you don't use anymore. Basically,
a misfit is anything nearly new that doesn't fit your lifestyle.
To help you get the most out of your OnYou consignment experience, we've
compiled a few questions we're commonly asked. We look forward to seeing
you soon.
What things can
I consign with OnYou?
OnYou Fashion Consignments currently accepts ladies clothes – size 2 to 22 – shoes and accessories as well as small, unique items for the home. Our shop is a place to find classic styles and fashion basics that give a wardrobe lots of mileage and trendy items that don’t break the bank. Maternity, career, casual, after 5 and special occasion are the categories we specialize in, featuring shirts (blouses, t-shirts, tank tops, outerwear camisoles), skirts, dresses, pants, shorts, shoes, handbags, briefcases, belts, scarves, hats (not ball caps) and jewelry. Other related merchandise might include unique items we women love to shop for and buy: small nightstand, bedside fixtures, jewelry box, side chair, vanity set, framed art, etc.
Unless it’s super extraordinary or special, we’ll generally not accept nightwear (pajamas, slippers, robes), lingerie (bras, undies, garter belts), socks, sportswear (tennis outfits, exercise-wear) makeup or other products, most books (some reference-type, classics or coffee-table books we might take!) bedding, figurines or large furniture. Keep in mind we don’t have a lot of room for big or bulky items, so please do call us if you have questions!
How does the process work?
Basically we ask first-time consignors to schedule a short “meet and greet” appointment so we can get to know you and explain our business. After that, you can drop merchandise any time during business hours Tuesday – Friday. All we’ll ask is for you to sign and date the standard contract and in three business days you can pick-up – or we’ll send you – a written receipt for the items we’re accepting for sale. For the next 90 days, we’ll do everything we can to sell your items for the best price possible by merchandising, coordinating, featuring or personally selling them to our customers. OnYou splits the actual sales price 50-50 with consignors.
Will you accept everything I bring in?
While OnYou Fashion Consignments is not necessarily a “high-end” consignment shop, we’re committed to maintaining a higher level of merchandise with a boutique atmosphere. Generally speaking, this means we’re fairly particular about the items we accept. We know our customers and what they want, and while consignor partnerships are extremely important to us, it’s the customers we must keep happy so we’ll all be profitable!
This means providing fresh, mostly name brand or desirable items that are clean and easy access. We’ll never have way too packed racks or merchandise stuffed in every corner. We believe you’ll get more money for your items if we have the room to sell them properly, which means we have to be picky. So please don’t be offended if your favorite party dress or the power suit that always brought you luck isn’t accepted!
What happens to clothes that do not sell?
Once you make a merchandise drop, clothes we do not choose to sell will be available for pick up after three business days (or sooner, just call!). If you don’t pick them up after three days, we’ll donate the items to Hubbard House – a non-profit organization that helps local women and families defeat abuse.
Ninety days from your drop off date you can pick up the items we accepted but didn’t sell. We ask that you make a note on your calendar to come in and find everything you want returned. After 90 days all items become the property of OnYou Fashion Consignments.
When do I get my money?
At the end of each month, you have the option to have your check over $10 sent to your home or available for pick up anytime during business hours after the first day of the month. If your account is under $10 in any given month, the money will post in the next period until you’ve accumulated/exceeded the $10 limit. Of course, we’ll always cut you a check for whatever the amount if you come in and request your balance.
When do you accept seasonal clothing?
Jacksonville’s climate makes it possible to sell certain items year-round but generally, OnYou accepts spring/summer merchandise in February and fall/winter merchandise in July. When in doubt, just think about what kinds of items you like to buy at different times of the year: sundresses, sandals and shorts in March – pants, sweaters, boots in August.
Also, many items defy seasons and can be sold anytime, particularly shirts that can be layered, certain skirts, pants and jeans, basic shoes, handbags, jewelry, etc..

1. When combing your closets for merchandise, make two piles: one for donating and one for consigning. Consign only your items that show no wear, are not washed out from laundering, have no stains or rips and are in season and in style. Donate the rest!
2. When consigning shoes, be sure to clean and polish as necessary. We can’t sell shoes that have worn soles, soiled insteps or nicked heels!
3. Check and replace/repair missing or loose buttons, zippers, dropped hems, tears at seams or unattached lining in trousers, skirts and dresses. Damaged merchandise will not sell at premium prices.
4. Dry clean, launder and/or press your items and put them on hangars.
5. Look over your merchandise with an objective eye. Don’t take it personally if we do not accept everything you bring in!
6. Clean jewelry and repair loose stones or beads and make sure clasps are in working order.
7. The goal for consignment business is to sell items quickly at a fair price. Remember that these items are used and will only sell for about 1/3 of retail.
8. Get a feel for what we sell and tailor your offering accordingly. We’re interested in career separates with classic styles, updated maternity, unique and classy “after 5” fashions and quality, brand name casual clothes that can be mixed and matched for lasting style. Our goal is to help women expand their wardrobe on the cheap using high quality basics and truly unique pieces with style.
